Getting Started


Gym Visit

We invite you to stop in to one of our CrossFit classes or attend one of our Open House sessions.  CrossFit workouts are a group activity with workouts modified so that everybody can participate.  The goal is to make a better you and encourage those around you to do the same.   

All new crossfitters are required to complete the either GSS On-Ramp or CrossFit Fundamentals course. 


On-Ramp Program

GSS CrossFit's On-Ramp Program is a four week program designed to familiarize beginners of all ability levels with CrossFit Fundamentals and allow a progression introduction into our group classes.  New athletes will be introduced to the movements and methodologies of CrossFit in a group class atmosphere focusing on mechanics as we gradually ramp the intensity.  At the end of every session there is a workout of the day (WOD) that incorporates new skills and gets progressively more challenging.

Make sure that you can commit to each day and time before enrolling into our On-Ramp classes as each of the movements builds on each other.  Any missed On-Ramp Classes must be made up via private training (at $50/hr) before graduating to CrossFit Classes.  If unsure if you are a candidate into our On-Ramp classes  feel free to contact us, cs@gsscrossfit.com


CrossFit Fundamentals

The CrossFit Fundamentals program consists of 3 one hour personal training sessions.   You will work with an experienced CrossFit trainer to evaluate your needs and establish goals, learn the movements required in the workouts of the day (WODs) and understand the CrossFit approach to training. You will be trained on the 9 fundamental movements of CrossFit, as well as providing an introduction to proper form, range of motion, scaling to ability, and intensity. You will also be introduced to some of the other equipment that we will use on a daily basis.

Because the Fundamentals course is 'one on one' instruction (or group if you choose to train with family or friends), the instruction is always adjusted to your needs. The personal training sessions will be used to evaluate your ability and scale the workouts accordingly. At GSS CrossFit, it does not matter if you are a stay at home mom, a professional athlete, or injured or disabled- we will work with you to develop you to the best of your ability!

Group Classes

In CrossFit classes you join a group of gym members to do the WOD.  The WOD is preceded by a warm-up, a discussion or demo of the exercises in the WOD, and your coach assisting with equipment set-up.  Coaching and encouragement is provided throughout the workout and is different every day!
